Font Help

If you are unable to view Telugu text on Pranahita, this page is for you. This page contains instructions for setting up your web browser, fonts and keyboard for Telugu on common operating systems. These instructions also apply to setting up your machine for any website with Unicode Telugu content.

Configuring your system for Telugu:
While most new versions of Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux distributions have basic support for viewing and editing Telugu in Unicode, they still need some configuration to get Telugu working. There are three components critical for browsing Telugu Unicode web pages: Font, Web Browser and Keyboard. After setting up a font and web browser, you will be able to read the articles in Pranahita website. If you need to type articles in Telugu Unicode, you will need to setup your keyboard to input Telugu text. Follow the instructions for your operating system to setup these components.

What is your Operating System?

Inputting Telugu and English text in the comment box:
We have a special JavaScript comment box (designed by eemaata.com) which converts automatically your English keyboard input as if it was entered on a Telugu keyboard, using a simple transliteration scheme, and so you will see Telugu characters instead of the English letters that your keyboard normally generates.

This is a site-specific feature, which only affects the comment box, not a change in your system keyboard setting.

If you want to disable this automatic conversion of input characters (for example to type words using the English script) and use your native English-based keyboard, or if you have to input comments in English text, check the radio button or option button for English above the comments box.

You can switch back again to the Telugu input mode by checking the radio button for Telugu again.

This input conversion feature only works online within the comment box, and only with browsers where JavaScript is enabled; it does not affect other input areas (the search box) of Pranahita, and will not affect the behavior of your browser’s address bar, or other plug-ins and tools of your browser (like the “Search in this page” tool), or any other concurrent applications running on your system.

some cases Mozilla and Firefox will not support unicode, you need to view telugu websites in IE 5.0+ versions. there is no installations & setting manipulation is required for this, you can see telugu websites in IE5.0+ directly
